Why Slash Education?

January 30, 2013

NPD Screen Shot  A favorite client of mine National Professional Development got their budget slashed by the Federal government.  Geez.  Seriously?  These were a bunch of do-gooder educators who were training other educators across the nation in asthma management and HIV prevention.  Students were the beneficiaries of all this training.  According to the Centers for Disease Control 48 percent of adolescents and young adults infected with HIV were unaware of their condition, that’s why HIV prevention education is so important.  Remember the bumper sticker: “It will be a great day when our schools get all the money they need and the air force has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber?”  Our fear-based culture has got to straighten their priorities.  I believe education should be at the top of the list.  Our future depends on it.
