Service As A Spiritual Path

March 28, 2013

Every once in a while I stumble upon a feel-good organization that expands my world view of what’s possible and makes my heart smile.  Seva Foundation’s basic idea is to be fully human, we must translate our compassion and concern into useful service.  One of the ways Seva embraces this idea is to help end preventable blindness.  Thanks to generous donors and a team of loyal individuals, Seva has restored sight to millions of blind people in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.  For the first time in history, the number of people suffering from blindness is decreasing according to the World Health Organization.  Jack Blanks, Executive Director of Seva gave me a tour of their Berkeley headquarters and introduced me to his dedicated staff members. As I shook each one of their hands, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for their commitment to such a worthy cause.  The picture of the woman you see above is a testament to this vision—she can literally see the light.  Consider offering a Gift of Service to Seva and put your compassion in action.
